Taródi Castle Sopron

More information

Deep in the suburbs of the small historical town of Sopron stands the Taródi Castle with all the accessories of a medieval castle, although it was built in the 1950s. Glass windows covered in vines, rope bridges, terraces, and bastions featuring this 20th century castle. The uniqueness of this castle is that Istvan Taródi had this vision of building his very own castle to live in. After thorough study of all the castles in Hungary he came up with this plan and started working on it on his own, brick by brick, stone by stone for 50 very painful years. Unfortunately he has died since then, but his family still lives in the castle and luckily a portion of it is open to the public.
