Debrecen is the second largest city in Hungary, located 220 kilometres to the east of Budapest in the Northern Great Plain area. It is not only the cultural and scientific centre of the region, but also a marvellous place of various festivals and cultural events of which the most splendid one is the flower festival held every summer. 

Moreover, It is a city of a flourishing bath culture and a distinctive health centre. The first nature reserve of the country, Nagyerdő is the spot where 65˚C medicinal water gushes to the surface from a geothermal spring providing the lifeblood of the Aquaticum Mediterranean Spa & Water Park with pools and many slides.

The city is not only a regional and national, but an international centre of education, especially on higher levels. The University of Debrecen is one of the most breath-taking universities in Hungary, situated in the Nagyerdő (Great Forest).
