Budapest Christmas festivities
The annual must see market of Budapest scattered around in the city with several locations.
Buy the best of traditional Hungarian handmade crafts whilst drinking Forralt Bor (hot mulled wine) and take the nip away with a shot of Palinka while browse over 100 stands offering unique Christmas-themed arts and crafts. Live entertainment, food & wine are also part of the festivities. You shouldn't miss some of the traditional Hungarian food like lángos (fry bread with a variety of toppings), some of the delicious roast meat, fried sausages, home-made strudels, töki pompos (oven-baked dough) since these all add to the magical atmosphere of the Budapest Christmas Market.
Located mid way along Vaci Utca and Vörösmarty Tér this is the ideal stop off point when exploring Pest in winter.
Other markets are scattered around the whole city for example on Kiraly Street, by St Stephen's Basilica, at Varosliget (City Park), Obuda (near Hotel Aquincum) and in Millenaris Park in the 2nd district on the Buda side with music and great food every evening. Gresham Palace will have its own Christmas market too on Roosevelt Square.
